SUPERTEST KICKS OFF 2015 SEASON

Will Davison kicked off his 2015 V8 Supercar Championship for Erebus Motorsport at the season-opening ‘Super Test’ at Sydney Motorsport Park on the weekend.

The annual fan day which traditionally opens the season was coined ‘SuperTest’ this year in reference to a new format which saw four test sessions spread over two days, capped by a whole-field flying-lap ‘Shootout’.

“It was great to get back behind the wheel and get stuck into the job again,” Will Davison said.

“We used the four practice sessions to go radical, to try stuff we haven’t done before, to learn what it does (to the car) and see if there are things we can utilise, and by Sunday’s session we’d improved the car a lot.

“In the Shootout we’d have been well inside the top ten but I went off at the third last corner and that was that.

“We need to find some more speed to be competitive with the very best guys though.”

Saturday

  • First laps of 2015
  • Three practice sessions
  • Day spent trying new chassis set-ups

“We tried some radical things today, some things seemed to have some potential. We took some really big swings at it (today) and it felt okay on the tyres I had, but we need to analyse it more. I’m trying so much stuff it’s easy to get lost.”

Sunday

  • Will 4th fastest in final practice
  • Erebus Mercedes Benz shows improved pace
  • Mistake in Shootout costs top 10 result

“We improved the car today, for sure. The Shootout was hot and slippery and I screwed up the third last corner and went off, otherwise I was on for a time in the middle to back of the top 10.”
