300TH RACE START FOR WILL AT CLIPSAL

A mixed weekend on track surrounded Will Davison’s 300th V8 Supercar race start over the weekend.

In very hot conditions at the opening round of the Championship in Adelaide, Will persisted through mechanical issues to show some excellent speed in the #9 Mercedes.

“It wasn't exactly the start to the year that we were hoping for,” said Will.

“We had a couple of dramas that really cost us, but the car ended the weekend with really good speed.

“We’ll just keep our heads down work hard to improve for the next round!”

FRIDAY

  • Three practice sessions, two qualifying sessions
  • Very hot conditions
  • Will qualifies 18th for Race 1
  • Will qualifies 17th for Race 2

“Today was a big day with lots of sessions and there were no major dramas which is good,” said Davison.

“Qualifying was very tight with two 10-minute sessions, with one flying run in each.

“The car feels a lot better today than the timesheets probably showed.

“But I’m very confident we can improve and hopefully we’ll have a clean weekend and move forward during the races.”

SATURDAY

  • Two 125km heats make up the first leg of 2015 Clipsal 500
  • Will does not finish Race One due to mechanical issues
  • Will is unable to start Race Two due to clutch issues with the #9 Mercedes Benz.

“We had a pretty tough day today and just couldn't catch a break.

“The team is working really hard to get the car set for Race Three so hopefully we can have a good crack at it tomorrow!”

SUNDAY

  • Will qualifies 23rd for Race 3
  • Ignition problem forces Will into the pits
  • Re-joining the field five laps down, Will sets the seventh fastest lap of the race
  • Finishes 19th

“The car felt great late in the race”

“It’s a shame we couldn't utilise that throughout the weekend but it gives us a lot of optimism heading into the next round.”
