WILL ROUNDS OUT ENDURO CUP AT GOLD COAST

WILL DAVISON rounded out the final round of the 2015 V8 Supercar Enduro Cup with a pair of hard fought races on the Gold Coast.

Despite some promising speed on Saturday, the Surfers Paradise track continued to work against Will and co-driver Alex Davison.

The pair finished with a best of 15th on Saturday’s 300km enduro.

“It wasn’t really the weekend we were hoping for but we’re happy to take away some positives.

“Alex did an amazing job and the whole team worked really hard all weekend to make the most of what we had.”

FRIDAY
  • Four practice sessions
  • Will teams up with brother Alex Davison for the event
  • Last leg of 2015 Enduro Cup
  • Will 7th fastest in final practice
“We rolled out with a good base car which is really positive,” said Will.

“We tried some things with Alex during the day and we’re both pretty comfortable in the car to be honest.

“In his last session, Alex was actually third or fourth quickest, it just didn’t register due to a timing sensor. We got the time back in the garage and he punched out a time that was fourth quickest in the session so he was quite happy in the car.”

SATURDAY
  • Will 16th fastest in Qualifying
  • Moves through the field into the top ten
  • Late race penalty relegates #9 Mercedes to 15th place finish.
“We had a quick car but obviously got caught up in a couple of incidents.”

“I would have thought (officials) they would have waited until the end of the race to have a look at everyone’s vision, I think they jumped the gun a bit quick there.

“Anyway, it is what it is, in the pack that stuff happens. But we had a quick car today so we’ll keep the car pretty similar tomorrow.”

SUNDAY
  • Will qualifies 17th
  • #9 Mercedes finishes 16th in Race 27
“We just didn’t have the pace today."

“I found the car was good in parts, but it wasn’t fast enough in the places I needed it to be so we were struggling to make up any spots.

“I’m so proud of my brother Alex. He flew under the radar a bit but did an absolutely perfect job. He was on fire for all three enduro races this year.”
