PENULTIMATE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND

PHILLIP ISLAND'S penultimate weekend of the 2015 V8 Supercar Championship saw Will Davison’s Erebus Mercedes Benz struggle for speed on the ultra-fast layout.

Saturday’s pair of sprint races saw mid-field finishes, while Sunday’s feature race saw Will finish 12th.

“Phillip Island is probably the track that suits us the least because it’s all about top-end speed, and we just didn’t have enough of it compared to the opposition,” Will Davison admitted.

“I think we ran a strong weekend with what we had, I’m now looking forward to Homebush in two weeks where the track will suit us more."

FRIDAY

  • Wet & windy conditions on & off all day
  • Track varied, some dry running
  • Will inside the top 10 in afternoon Practice

“Difficult day obviously, with the conditions changing constantly. Hard to say where we are as everyone is running different programs. It’ll be dry tomorrow, I believe, so we’ll get a better idea then.”

SATURDAY

  • Dry conditions, Will 19th in final practice
  • Will qualifies 17th for Races 31 & 32
  • Will finishes 15th in Race 31
  • Will finishes 17th in Race 32

“We did what we could but Phillip Island is all about straight line speed, which is not our strength at the moment. Tomorrow’s longer distance will suit us better and give us a chance to move forward.”

SUNDAY

  • Will 12th in final practice
  • Will qualifies 16th for Race 33
  • Will finishes 12th in Race 33

“There was not much more we could do today … you just have to maximise what you have.”
