WILL WINS, LEADS CHAMPIONSHIP

WILL DAVISON scored his first-ever win for Tekno Autosports in Tasmania on the weekend, the 18th V8 Supercar championship race of his career.

In a brilliantly competitive weekend, Will demonstrated he’d got to grips with his new #19 Tekno Commodore, finishing 3rd on Saturday and then grabbing pole position on Sunday, before a penalty dropped him back to third.

Driving a clever race, Will kept out of trouble for the majority of the distance, got himself to third closing on second and then grabbed the win in the event’s closing stages.

“Wow. Crazy day. I would have been happy with another podium because we didn’t quite have the pace today that the car had yesterday, but it fell my way … a fantastic result for the team,” Will Davison said.

“And to be leading the championship … incredible.”

FRIDAY
  • Cold, blustery conditions
  • Two practice sessions
  • Will is 5th in Practice 1
  • Will is 9th in Practice 2
“Solid day, felt pretty comfortable in the car out of the box and we were pretty solid all day. Need a little more but nothing major. Getting a tow will be the key in qualifying but I didn’t get one today when I set my times. So we seem to be up the right end but not sure how to get the next step yet.”

SATURDAY
  • Will 11th in Practice 3
  • Will Qualifies 5th for Race 4
  • Finishes 3rd in Race 4
  • First podium for Tekno
“It was great to have genuine speed again. Don’t want to get carried away but a small sign of what we can do … it was a fun race!”

SUNDAY
  • Will qualifies on Pole for Race 5
  • Two-spot penalty for driving infringement drops him to 3rd on the grid
  • Will wins, his first for Tekno Autosports & his 18th career V8 Supercar victory
“I felt I began to understand the car at the Grand Prix and I said that this (Tasmania) would be the test, that we had to be competitive here. And we were. Now that I understand it, it’s such a nice racecar to drive and the Tekno boys do a brilliant job. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season.”
