WILL's WEEKEND ON THE ISLAND
AUSTRALIA'S FASTEST and most picturesque track, on Phillip Island, played host to the V8 Supercars on the weekend.
Despite being one of Will Davison’s favourite tracks, the championship leader coming out of the previous round had a frustrating weekend, unable to extract competitive speed from his Tekno Autosports Commodore.
Will finished 16th in race 6 of the national series before backing up with a 9th in race 7.
“It was a tough weekend after our run the round before, but we had a positive race to finish,” Will Davison said.
“In both races we struggled early-on for pace but we had good (tyre) longevity over the distance, so move forward when others were in trouble. We need to find the performance balance to that speed at the start of the stints.”

“We changed the car quite a bit to align it with the Triple Eight cars and so I spent the day re-learning it a bit … trying to understand how best to drive it and get the time. I can’t say I truly understand the car but we are making progress.”

Will finishes 16th in Race 6
“Our biggest issue today was qualifying. I just don’t know where our pace went from Friday, the car should have been a lot quicker. In the early part of the race the car wasn’t great but we had some good pace late in the race. We’ll look at the data and go again tomorrow.”
SUNDAY

Will qualifies 16th for Race 7

Will finishes 10th in Race 7
“Today we had good strategy, good stops, it was an enjoyable race. It’s always nice to move forward on Sundays. I thought at the last re-start we might grab another couple of positions, but again we didn’t have that instant pace we needed on things like restarts.”
