STRONG WEEKEND IN THE WEST

WILL DAVISON had another strong weekend for the Tekno Autosports team in Perth on the weekend, scoring a fourth and a 10th at Barbagallo Raceway.

Utilising his renowned tyre conservation skills to advantage, Will was destined for a podium placing on Saturday when a slow pitstop cost him valuable time, leaving him fourth.

On Sunday Will found the Tekno Commodore less competitive, battling its handling and slow pitstops, to finish a frustrated 10th.

“We had a great car Saturday but time lost in the pits really cost us, and again that was the case on Sunday, although the car just wasn’t as good for some reason we need to try and understand,” Will Davison said.

“Our focus now ahead of Winton has to be on our pitstops and getting that right … I am sure we will sort it out.”

FRIDAY
  • Two practice sessions today
  • Wet track at start of Practice 1, dried later
  • Will 11th quickest in 1st session, didn’t ‘t run new tyres
  • Will 12th quickest in mostly wet 2nd session
“It was a crazy day with the weather, with it changing constantly throughout the day. One minute dry, the next wet. So not a lot to report, it’s just been a little messy and we haven’t really known where we are at. I didn’t run new tyres at all because it would be a waste in the conditions.”

SATURDAY
  • Will qualifies 9th for Race 8
  • Will finishes 4th in Race 8
“Another crazy day. Qualifying was a lottery this morning because of the conditions but we had a strong race. There was very high tyre deg(redation) but we managed it quite well. Unfortunately my pitstop was slow and I lost time, so that cost us a podium.”

SUNDAY
  • Will qualifies 11th for Race 9
  • Will finishes 10th in Race 9
“Frustrating day. For some reason the car wasn’t great early on so we switched from a two-stop strategy to a three-stop strategy but the car was better in the second stint, so maybe that wasn’t the right call after all. Our biggest issue was time lost in the pits which kept putting us back in the pack.”
