DAVISON & WEBB SECOND IN ENDURANCE CUP

BATHURST WINNERS Will Davison and Jon Webb finished second in the 2016 Endurance Cup.

After a strong run to third in the Sandown 500 and their come-from-behind Bathurst victory, Tekno Autosport’s home event on the Gold Coast - and final round of the Endurance Cup - wasn’t quite so kind.

Ill-timed safety cars saw the team lose copious time ‘stacking’ in pitlane and left the STIX Commodore well down the field in both races on the streets of Surface Paradise, stymieing their chances of collecting the Endurance Cup.

“It was one of those weekends. We had a Top Ten car on pace, though perhaps not the ultimate pace we were looking for, but events outside our control really affected our results,” Will Davison admitted.

“Since the track was shortened it’s a much more difficult place to pass on, so if you are down the back thanks to stacking in pitlane, which happened to us several times across the weekend, it is very hard to make up positions.

“We’ll go onto New Zealand and see if we can move forward again.”
