TOUGH WEEKEND IN TOWNSVILLE
It was great to be back in Northern Queensland and escape the Melbourne winter – even if it was only for a few days!
As usual the atmosphere was great and a really good crowd turned out!
But I've left Townsville feeling slightly disappointed, nothing seemed to go right for me on the track.
Saturday was probably the most frustrating day of my season so far!
I got ‘stacked' behind Mark (Winterbottom) in the pits half way through the race and never really recovered.
It cost me a lot of positions and as much as I tried to get back in the race I couldn't because the drivers in the back of the pack cost me so much time!
But things seemed to turn around on Sunday. The race was one of the best this season, because it was really intense and high quality.
Nobody was making too many mistakes and I was really pleased to hold onto third position and come away with another podium finish!
I may have slipped to third position on the Championship table behind Mark (Winterbottom) and Jamie (Whincup) but I know I can still challenge for the title.
The car has some good pace and I know if I don't have a repeat of Saturday's race I will be up there for the rest of the season.
Off the track and the next few weeks are definitely going to be busy for me ahead of the next round.
I've got quite a few sponsor and team appearances coming up across Melbourne and Brisbane. I'm also filming a segment for ‘Better Homes and Gardens', so make sure you look out for that before Bathurst!
Then it's back up to Queensland for the Ipswich 300. I hope I can have a better weekend up there!
